Rawana is a restaurant that does not end when dinner does. Somewhere between the last sharing plate and the first round after it, the lights drop and the music comes up, and a fair number of tables decide not to leave.

This page is about that half of the evening: what happens, what it costs, and how to find out what is on before you come.

What actually happens here

Live sets and DJs, in the dining room rather than a separate club space downstairs. There is no stage-and-audience arrangement — the music happens in among the tables, which is the point and also the limit: this is a room that turns, not a venue with a lineup.

If you want a table for dinner and then intend to stay, say so when you book. It changes where we seat you.

Finding out what is on

The programme changes, and we would rather tell you straight than publish a calendar that goes stale. Call 324 796 5832 and ask what is happening on the night you are thinking of — someone who works in the room will answer.

It is also worth asking when you book a table, because the answer sometimes changes which night you want.

The bar

Signature cocktails at €9. Classics from €7 to €10. Spritz from €7. A zero-proof list at €7 to €9, made properly rather than assembled apologetically.

Wine from €5 a glass and €30 a bottle, sparkling up to €45. Beer €3 to €6 on tap and in bottle. Coffee from €1.10, which matters more at the end of a long night than people admit.

Eat first — it is a restaurant

The kitchen runs a Sri Lankan and Asian menu: kottu chopped to order, coconut-milk curries, wok-fired noodles and rice, seafood, and large sharing plates from €18 to €70. À la carte dishes run €7 to €19, and most guests spend €20 to €35 a head.

Come for the food, stay for the rest. That order works better than the other one.

Late nights and the hours

Friday we are open straight through from 12:30 to 23:00, and Sunday from 12:00 to 23:00. Saturday runs 12:30 to 15:00 and 18:00 to 23:00. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday are 12:00 to 15:30 and 17:00 to 23:00. Closed all day Tuesday.

Friday and Saturday evening are the nights the room is fullest.

Getting here and getting home

Via Giuseppe Cesare Abba 7 sits in Dergano, Municipio 9 — about nine minutes on foot from Dergano M3 and twelve from Maciachini M3, both on the yellow line.

Being north of the centre rather than in it has a practical advantage on a late night: the street is residential, parking is realistic, and you are not fighting the Navigli for a taxi.
